Sumitomo Rubber Industries
August 2007 – December 2010, Hyogo, Japan
- Engaged in developing an Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring System (indirect-TPMS), which applies data mining techniques. The system received attention from auto manufacturers in the world as a next-generation safety technology which fulfills regulations of installing air pressure monitoring systems in the US and Europe.
- Made presentations on technologies in English and Japanese to auto manufacturers. Also conducted sales activities.
- Earlier systems had a low detection accuracy, improved the system so that it can be operated in a real environment. The system has been installed in various cars at low costs across the world.
- Succeeded to commercialize the TPMS in Sep 2009. It was adopted by BOSCH for their anti-lock braking system (ABS). Demonstrated TPMS to overseas auto manufacturers in Aug 2008.
- Passed an attorney exam in Nov 2010 (registered in Apr 2011).

Nara Institute of Science and Technology
Ph.D. in Engineering, Machine Learning
- Completed the doctorate course in Machine Learning. Authored three academic papers and six proceedings of international conferences.
- Conducted data-analysis researches; the research results showed that the voluntary decision made in the human brain could be predicted by analyzing poor behavior data based on the statistical model.
- Developed a novel approach of the reinforcement learning; the research results showed that the learning agent playing the card game "Hearts" could obtain tricky strategies whose decisions could defeat a human player.

Publications
Model-based reinforcement learning for partially observable games with sampling-based state-estimation, Neural Computation, 19(11), 3051-3087, September 2007
This Journal paper presents research results about learning and decision-planning in partially observable environments. As studies for controlling autonomous agents, we propose model-based reinforcement learning (RL) schemes for large-scale multi-agent problems with partial observability. Computer simulation results show the world's first result.
A reinforcement learning scheme for a partially-observable multi-agent game, Machine Learning, 59, 31-54, April 2005
This Journal paper presents a model-based reinforcement learning scheme for large-scale, multi-agent and partially observable environments with mean-field state estimation. Computer simulation results show that our method is effective at solving a difficult partially observable multi-agent problem.
