About

My practice focuses in patent litigation and other areas of intellectual property. I have significant pre-trial and trial experience successfully representing large companies in patent disputes involving medical devices, MEMS, computer hardware, computer software, computer algorithms, and food technology. I have also represented companies in various trademark, copyright, and misappropriation cases, including disputes in federal courts, state courts, and before the WIPO in cases decided under the UDRP.

I also have extensive practice representing both debtors and creditors in bankruptcy cases, including cases dealing with the overlap of bankruptcy practice and intellectual property disputes.

Prior to joining DLA Piper, I worked at the World Intellectual Property Organization's offices at the United Nations, where I wrote about the intersection of the United Nations Millennium Goals with international intellectual property systems.

Before becoming a lawyer, I served as a technology consultant in the recording industry for several years, where I developed an extensive background in the digital sciences, including digital signal processing and other areas of technology closely associated with the recording arts. I am the author of a college textbook on digital audio engineering, have written several papers in the field and have been cited in Forbes and other publications for my work in digital rights management.
