About

My practice includes patent prosecution, due diligence and counseling with a focus on molecular and cell biology, antibody technologies, biochemical and molecular diagnostics, molecular genetics, enzyme replacement therapy and gene therapy. I work with a variety of clients in the life sciences including start-up companies; academic institutions focused on technology licensing; and biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies growing into and maintaining positions as market leaders. Representative engagements include preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications as well as conducting freedom to operate, due diligence, infringement and invalidity analyses.

Harvard Medical School, Doctoral Dissertation Research
• Performed genetic and transcriptional analysis of how the small molecule thyroid hormone (TH), – through interactions with Deiodinase enzymes, TH receptors (THR), additional nuclear receptors (NR), as well as co-factors, – mediates changes in early cell competence and photoreceptor patterning during avian retinal development
• Used novel genetic reporters in vivo and ex vivo organ culture to investigate how thyroid response elements (TREs) provide an interface for both THRs and additional NR signaling pathways to drive complex dorsal-ventral and nasal-temporal developmental patterns in chick

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Senior Research Tech III
• Optimized and carried out large-scale cloning, probe generation, and in situ hybridization (ISH) to help create one of the first online, in situ image databases that cataloged the expression pattern of every annotated transcription factor in the developing mouse brain
• Used integrated glial microarray datasets to investigate novel molecular markers to define the astrocyte lineage; identified several potentially important markers of astrocytomas

Publications
• “Mouse brain organization revealed through direct genome-scale TF expression analysis,” co-author, Science, 2004.

• “Molecular diversity of astrocytes with implications for neurological disorders," co-author, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, 2004.
