Responsible for overall vision for company’s client/server and Internet-based transaction processing products. Re-architected product lines to leverage common technology, decrease customization and maintenance costs, and increase performance and profitability. Implemented IP protection plan for Internet Commerce Division, including 10 patent applications. HP acquired VeriFone in 1997 in large part because of the Internet Commerce Division, which added 60% to the purchase price of VeriFone and represented a 1200% return on investment in just two years on VeriFone's purchase of EIT (see below).

Coordinated globally distributed development teams to implement changes. Evaluated new technologies, potential acquisitions, alliance partners.

Designed and built software tools for design of massively parallel computers; used at Fairchild Semiconductor, Hewlett-Packard and Stanford University. Created novel high-performance system for solving geometric constraint problems that occur in mechanical design, using artificial intelligence techniques (symbolic geometry) and numerical optimization. Developed and took to market what was then the fastest and most numerically stable geometric constraint solver. Developed and protected intellectual property (eight issued US patents). Published book on geometric constraints on MIT Press.
