Starting off with practising as an Intellectual Property Barrister specialising in protecting computer based inventions through the use of patents, copyright, trade secrets, trade marks and confidentiality I got involved in computer evidence evaluation and ended up being counsel in most of the main computer crime cases in the 1980s and 90s. I then became a Reviewer on the European Commission ESPRIT programme where I worked on harmonisation of copyright in Europe and on reviewing various legal research projects
