About

I have over 10 years of experience in the patent profession, largely practicing in the medical device sector. I have particular expertise in prosecution and post-grant opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office (EPO).

I represent clients from individual inventors to multinational companies with large patent portfolios. I pride myself on fully understanding the subtleties of the technology at issue and recognising the associated business interests of clients. I aim to proactively propose optimal solutions for obtaining commercially relevant patent protection, while always striving for maximum time and cost efficiency in my work. I have experience with offering and implementing alternative billing arrangements.

For international clients, I take care to ensure that their patent scope requirements are met as fully as possible under the particularities of European patent law and practice.

I studied physics at University College London and was awarded a first class degree with honours. I have previously worked in another private practice patent firm based in Munich between 2002 and 2006, where I trained and qualified as a European patent attorney. I joined the Munich office of Hoffmann • Eitle in 2007 and qualified as a British Patent Attorney the same year. I became associate partner of Hoffmann Eitle in 2013.

I have been a European Patent Institute (EPI) tutor since 2011 and also tutor in-house for part qualified British attorneys to pass the Chartered Patent Attorney examinations.

My leisure interests include road cycling and I generally take in at least one famous (in cycling circles) mountain pass per summer. I also play amateur football (soccer) at a reasonable level, and serve as director of football of my club.
