Patent Pending In a semiconductor device according to this invention, an insulator layer on a substrate is provided with a groove. In the groove, a gate electrode is formed with its surface substantially flush with a surface of the insulator layer. On the gate electrode, a semiconductor layer is formed via a gate insulation film.
