Patent Pending PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous metal body having a more enhanced reaction efficiency of a filtration, a catalyst performance and the like than conventional and to provide its production method. ; SOLUTION: In the porous metal body, a porous metal is irradiated with a high-energy beam to form a micro, nano projection consisting of a metal or a metal oxide on the inner wall of a pore, and a porous metal heated beforehand in air is irradiated with the high-energy beam to form the micro, nano projection consisting of the metal oxide on a nuclei while a fine metal oxide is formed as the nuclei on the inner wall of the pore. The production method of the porous metal body is provided.
