Patent Granted PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front light for a reflective LCD wherein all of a contrast ratio, light utilization efficiency, luminance uniformity and image quality are not deteriorated. ; SOLUTION: The front light has a reflection control layer 15 coming in contact with an upper surface of the reflective LCD 21, an incident surface receiving light source light (preferably a P polarization light) and a first emission surface coming in contact with an upper surface of the reflection control layer and includes a first light guide 2 introducing light to the reflection control layer through the first emission surface, a light source 1 generating the light source light and a second light guide 4 disposed in the reflective LCD.
