Patent Granted PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing element with which a liquid crystal display device having high contrast ratios in all directions and having little color shift in oblique directions is attained. SOLUTION: The polarizing element is equipped with: a polarizer; a first optical element satisfying inequalities (1) and (2); a second optical element satisfying inequalities (3) and (4); a third optical element satisfying inequalities (5) and (6) sequentially in this order.
