Silsesquioxanes

Patent Granted A silsesquioxane is an organosilicon compound with the empirical chemical formula RSiO3/2 where Si is the element silicon, O is oxygen and R is either hydrogen or an alkyl, alkene, aryl, arylene group.[1] These materials have been proposed as supports for catalysts,[2] and on pH-responsive material.[3] Silsesquioxanes can have a cage-like structure. Most commonly, the structure of silsesquioxane is in the form of a cube, hexagonal prism, octagonal prism,[4] decagonal prism,[5] or a dodecagonal prism.
