Patent Granted Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are compounds consisting of metal ions or clusters coordinated to often[clarification needed] rigid organic molecules to form one-, two-, or three-dimensional structures that can be porous. More formally a metal–organic framework, abbreviated to MOF, is a coordination network with organic ligands containing potential voids.
