Technology A high-performance WiFi phone from Mobile Technika, MobbyTalk253 offers low power consumption through its superior power management capability. It uses a high-quality software codec for excellent speech quality. Integrated with various applications, the MobbyTalk253 can be tailored to customer needs: For example, it supports safe and portable extension calls through a virtual private network as well as information exchange in voice-disabled areas. It can also be used for groupware-based schedule management; integration with security systems via RF tags; and emergency calls from office computers. The WiFi handset is equipped with a 2.0-inch LCD that can display up to 65,536 colors. At a thickness of 28.2mm, the phone appears somewhat bulky, but weighs only 110g like an ordinary cell phone. When fully charged, it allows for up to 300 minutes of continuous conversation and up to 180 minutes of standby time. The MobbyTalk253 is slated for release in August at suggested retail price of 42,000 yen.
