Thomas is an IP professional with particular experience in European Intellectual Property Matters, including Patent Law, Trademark Law, and Design Law. With offices in Los Gatos, CA and near Munich, Germany, Thomas provides services for his clients in Silicon Valley and the Bay Area as well as across Europe.
Thomas is an expert in domestic and international patenting and focuses on patent prosecution and validity (contested) procedures. He has particular expertise with regard to opposition and validity/nullity procedures and sucessfully conducted corresponding procedures before the European Patent Office (EPO), the German Federal Patent Court (BPatG) and the German Supreme Court (BGH). He also co-represented high-technology clients in patent litigation before the competent courts in Düsseldorf, Germany and advised numerous clients on patent infringement in Germany, as well as trademark and design issues. He is not admitted to the California State Bar.
Thomas' technical background is electrical engineering. He frequently helps medium to large corporate clients as well as pro se inventors to protect their valuable inventions and assets in particular in the fields of electronics, software, optics and medical devices.
