特許 権利維持 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single crystal of a Pr-containing garnet type oxide for a scintillator, which is for a gamma rays detector and featured by a very high emission amount and a very short fluorescence decay time. ; SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the single crystal for the scintillator by crystallizing the initial melt represented by (Pr<SB>x</SB>Lu<SB>1-x</SB>)<SB>3</SB>Al<SB>y</SB>O<SB>12</SB>, the initial melt is adjusted so as for the x to be 0.02<=x<=0.03 and for the y to be 5<y<=5.2.
