These applications include purgative (sennosides), antimicrobial and antiparasitic (rhein- and saprorthoquinone, atovaquone), anti-tumor (emodin and jugone), inhibition of PGE2 biosynthesis (arnebinone and arnebifuranone) and anti-cardiovascular disease (tanshinone).
