テクノロジー The Blu-ray disc is a high density optical disc developed by Sony in 2002. It is called Blu-ray because it uses a blue-violet laser, compared to the red or infra-red lasers of DVD or CD players. This laser has a shorter wavelength which means more data can be stored in the same amount of space. Approximately 50Gb, 23 hours of DVD quality video or 9 hours of High-Definition video, can be stored on a single dual-layer disc.
