Hello everybody, I have quick question: We are based in Germany and Switzerland and would like to get a patent for a mechanical device. How much would it cost in Switzerland and in Germany, including attorney fees and patent office fees, to obtain a patent? How about a European patent? Does the latter vary in cost depending on the number of jurisdictions? Thank you very much for your insight!

As for the attorney fees, there is no set standard so you will have to shop around. A good place to start for guidance is checking whether your state Patent Office or enterprise support organisation has a directory of attorneys offering services specifically to start-ups and small companies.
