Crowdfunding as an early-stage financing alternative

Question

Hello
Is there anybody who has some experience with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or other crowdfunding platforms as a means for seed capital? Some technology-focused campaigns have been able to raise considerable amounts of capital.

Don't think of it as seed capital but as pre-sales. Talking with crowd-investing platforms, they provide a service but you still need to bring in your own social contacts. It is not a magic money tree so having a product with strong popular appeal, known developers with community links and prior history of delivering on time helps.
