Question
The startup will focus on software development. What else would be relevant information in order to determine which documents are required? Will I have to consult with a lawyer?

Do you have to consult with a lawyer? Absolutely not. Are you insane if you don't? Probably. As a lawyer who deals with start ups in the IP area I am biased of course. However, it would help to know if you have partners. What you intend to do with your business 5 or 10 years down the road (i.e. sell it off or take income from it). Whether you're getting investors and what kind. It's more than just the documents that an attorney provides. If you'd like to discuss further, I'd be happy to speak with you.
