How do you handle pending patent applications when terminating a startup?

Question

If you are winding down a startup and have patent applications that may be approved post-wind down, how do you handle ownership of that IP? How is the original application affected (would there be a re-application requirement, or simple transfer)?

You can simply re assign the patent very easy to do. However there are allot of business things that need to be clarified by moving the asset. Who owns current assets now? If you are the sole owner then you can move it. However if there are other stake or lien holders in most cases they somehow will need to be compensated.
