Question
If I have a trademark registered in the US, does that have any effect in Europe? If not, and I register for a "community trademark", does that give me protection in all European countries?
Answers: 2 public & 2 private
The territorial scope of protection of trademarks is limited to the countries, where they are registered. Therefore, an US trademark does generally not give any protection in Europe. If you would register a community trademark.
A community trademark (CTM) covers the whole European Union (not Europe), yes.
It is very difficult to patent a computer based invention. The rate is %90 refusal as i heard from an EPC patent examiner during a congress. Your main question must be: "is there a technical solution to a technical problem?".
A computer based invention may contain technical and non-technical parts. We can see the computer (or a mobile phone) as technical but the authority sees this technical part as obvious. Your invention must contain technical solution which is above obvious (Prior art).
I don't think an application which is samely used like airbnb to be patented but recommend you to argue it with a patent attorney.
