3D scanned designs by users – how to use commercially

Question

Hi there! Very excited about this feature, appreciate any advice!
We are a startup from Boston. Our main product (in development) is a new technology to utilize handhelds and wearable devices for instant 3D Scanning of objects and optimizing for 3D Printing. We are developing several other projects related to 3D Printing as well.

My question is related to intellectual property in the scans that are taken with our software. Is it possible to use the scanned file and object design commercially, for instance to share it with other customers? Can this be done through the SLA? What steps would we have to take?
