3D Printing piracy issues

Question

As a provider of 3D Printing & Scanning software, what are the IP piracy issues we could face? Do they change if we decide to offer actual 3D Printing services plus delivery, either by ourselves or by contractors?

If you provide the system hardware then usually caselaw from Sony video applies ... so long as valid non copyright-infringing use, then what the purchaser uses it for is not for you to police (otherwise gun manufacturers would be out of business).

The problem comes when you have knowledge of infringement., as in copyright, use of site to print trademarked characters, etc. Here courts have taken down business with the classic being Napster.

If you are worried about being the target of "piracy" then you need to relook at your business risk profile.
