How do we structure equity packages in a German startup?

Hello there! We have recently founded an UG based in Berlin and are now wondering how we can structure equity compensation packages for early hires. There is a lot of information on this for US-based companies, but I guess we can't do it the same way here. Is there a way to give options to our employees?
