Cathode body

Patent Granted An object of this invention is to provide a cathode body having high brightness, high efficiency, and long life. The cathode body according to this invention is manufactured by forming a cylindrical cup from a metal alloy containing lanthanum oxide and having high thermal conductivity and forming a LaB6 film on the cylindrical cup by the use of a magnetron sputtering apparatus capable of carrying out sputtering at a low electron temperature.
