Patent Granted Polarization (also polarisation) is a property of waves that can oscillate with more than one orientation. Electromagnetic waves, such as light, and gravitational waves exhibit polarization, this does not happen with sound waves in a gas or liquid, in which it can have only one possible polarization - the direction in which the wave is travelling.
