Patent Pending Microwave ovens are everywhere due their practicality, so you can find them in kitchens, offices, dinning rooms, and hospitality facilities to heat water, milk, drinks and foods, however coffee infusions are seldom made in such ovens because no appropriate coffee makers are at hand. Certainly several coffee makers for this purpose have been described in the past, nevertheless none specifically made up for coffee pods, offering, in our opinion, scarce advantages, if any, over the standard ones. The emerging market of coffee makers for pods is still boasting (*) despite companies force consumers to acquire expensive machines, while excellent coffee can be extracted from the same pods following an even easier procedure by either presented coffee makers requiring a single microwave oven, actually more ubiquitous and available than coffee machines. You might also be willing to access a prominent position on supermarket shelves crowed wiht pods and machines by offering a distinct brand : The first coffee maker (patent 1), sealed, pre-packaged with a coffee pod and water, is disposable, for single use; the pod of coffee inside preserves its sealed integrity until it is opened by ad-hoc, built-in, opener. Useful to obtain a quick and easy infusion: just take one unit, press the opener, put it over a cup and introduce them as a whole inside the microwave oven for about 45 seconds, then just get your coffee cup and discard de disposable coffee maker in the basket. Because its disposable nature, a mass, serial, production procedure has been foreseen and described, appropriate for automated thermoplastic moulding and food processing lines, optimizing costs by design, exceeding the cost of bare cartridges by a few cents. The second coffee maker (patent 2) is re-usable and processes standard coffee pods, including those provided with built-in filters, grids or nozzles: just fill the plastic reservoir of water from a bottle or tap, load the cartridge into the unit, close it and follow the procedure: put it over your preferred cup or mug and enter the group in the oven, set the timer for about 45 seconds, then put the used coffee maker apart and enjoy your fresh coffee cup. You can fill more o less water at your preference, obtaining small, medium or large coffee. Once cooled, open the coffee maker, discard the pod and, again, is ready to use. Both coffee makers are moulded in thermoplastics approved for heating water by US and EC agencies preventing migration of toxic components. Safety is still assured preventing hazardous events by a relative low pressure and temperature of operation, an appropriate relief valve and the full construction in plastics carefully chosen regarding their transparency to microwaves, endurance to temperature and pressure, welding and processing properties, not to say the mandatory door of the oven. Low processing temperature and pressure, common to both types of, complementary, coffee makers , offers a better preservation of flavour and taste. Compatibility of containers with standard labels and IML printing, as well as their ability to adopt a variety of shapes, sizes and colours helps to engage any marketing strategy. ____________________________________________________________________ (*) http://blog.euromonitor.com/2013/05/thinking-again-the-future-of-coffee-pod-machines.html
