Patent Granted Pet products have been one of the fastest, and most consistently, growing industries in America. In 2018, $72.56 billion was spent on our pets in the U.S. For 2019, it estimated that $75.38 billion will be spent on our pets in the U.S. "Talk to any pet owner and they'll tell you how difficult it is to put a dollar limit on what they'd spend to give their loyal companion a happy life, and it's this outlook that continues to drive growth." said Bob Vetere, president and chief executive officer of the APPA, This patent for a memory foam pet bed eliminates all pressure points, offering the ultimate in comfort and support. The patent claims 4 components of the pet bed: 1) a layer of quality memory foam; 2) a layer of supporting foam to prevent “bottoming out”; 3) a protective liner – which protects the foam from liquids, stains, and odors; and 4) an outer washable fabric cover. Ironically, this patent allows you to make a better memory foam pet bed for less money since the bed has a layer of quality memory foam AND a layer of supporting foam. The supporting foam prevents “bottoming out” which a bed made entirely of memory foam will do. Since the supporting foam can be made with a less expensive foam than memory foam, there can be over a 35% reduction in materials costs. This patent makes better bed than a simple memory foam bed because it prevents “bottoming out” while still offering all the benefits of a memory foam pet bed. Over the years this patent has been successfully defended against infringement on 2 occasions.
