Sometimes we suspect competing products to be counterfeits of our own. How can we protect against counterfeit products before they enter the domestic market in Japan? Can we do the same for competitor's products who export counterfeits to the U.S., one of our main overseas markets?

If you have market intelligence, then an application to the customs (who have seizure authority) may be an administrative action. Proving infringement raises the bar so you need to weigh up cost-benefits as it often turns into a whack-a-mole exercise.
