One of the first things that you would probably need to do is to divulge the type of technology that you are involved with - mechanical, electrical/electronic, chemical, biological, software.......sometimes the best firms are those that specialize in particular areas of technology. From there, it is a matter of being comfortable with the firm - are they easy to work with, do they communicate well with inventors or clients, what is their pricing structure......
