Can we quote from other websites verbatim?

Question

Good morning everybody,

For our service, we would like to quote content from a number of other websites. The quotes would more or less be verbatim, the goal is to provide a comprehensive overview on what our competitors write about a topic related to our value proposition.

Would this be in compliance with Copyright? How can we avoid any legal issues?

It depends on how much of the site you are quoting, and how you are using the information. This type of question requires the advice of counsel as there are other laws that apply to this situation.
