Patent Pending In medicine, enteritis refers to inflammation of the small intestine. Enteritis, derives from Greek words ἑντερον, enteron (small intestine) and suffix -ιτις, -itis (Inflammation). It is most commonly caused by the ingestion of substances contaminated with pathogenic microorganisms.[1] Symptoms include abdominal pain, cramping, diarrhea, dehydration and fever.
