I was invited to speak before the New York City chapter of the International Intellectual Property Society (IIPS).

The IIPS is pleased to announce that our May 17th meeting will feature a presentation on
Algorithm Lawyers: How and How Soon? The Decline of the Legal Profession as we Know it.
Summary: If you are a lawyer then you know that there are a lot of areas of law that consist largely of drafting legal documents that often need only minimal or even no real personalized attention by a lawyer at all. The following will happen: Template filler lawyers will face increasing competition by Artificial Intelligence. Young lawyers will replace paralegals, for the same salary. Jobs for specialized lawyers will remain. Some of them will earn much more than today.
Bio: Martin Schweiger is a seasoned patent attorney that has been working in the IP industry for 25 years, gaining experience in patent and trademark prosecution, as well as in contentious matters. He is the founding partner of an IP law firm with offices in Munich and Singapore and is passionate about advancing the use of automation and Artificial Intelligence in IP matters. Martin also runs www.ip-lawyer-tools.com, a webpage for IP lawyers who are looking for ways to save time and increase their productivity. Martin is also involved in developing a Patent Drafting Robot, in a co-operation with the Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany). Martin is a European Patent and Trademark Attorney, a Singapore Patent Attorney, and is affiliated with various IP organizations worldwide.
